John Stippick began his career by applying technology solutions to public education challenges in 1994. He  worked with school districts across the country, including Los Angeles Unified,  Dallas Independent School District, DC Public Schools, and Hawaii public schools. John has also worked with upper tier private schools such as Punahou School, National Cathredral School, St. Albans, and Ursuline Academy.

The first pivotal challenge was simply bringing the internet to schools. Most schools in the 1990’s hadn’t developed an infrstrastructure for basic connectivity.  Mr. Stippick worked with WinStar For Education to support districts and private schools in e-rate Federal Funding. Once the schools achieved basic connectivity, the WinStar team began developing the first iteration of online learning applications. Given that internet development was in its early stages, static html pushed through dial up and dsl was then considered up to date.

As schools, connected with T1 Access, Mr. Stippick was recruited to join Vantage Learning, a forerunner in artificial intelligence and machine learning software development. John was given the task of taking a virtually unheard of company and unheard of idea of using AI to score a human written essay.  Needless to say, the idea took over 2 years to take root but adoptions by LA County Office of Eduction, Los Angeles Unified, and Hawaii State Office of Education catapulted the unknown company to having Vantage Learning becoming a world leader in educational software. Throughout his career in education, John helped school districts secure more than $100 million in grants for education technology.  He was later awarded a certificates of recognition from both the Los Angeles Unified School Board and Letter of Recognition from The City of Los Angeles.

Seeing that learning is actually a collaborative process and given that the United States Department of Education was about to embark on creating a new framework for education called the Framework for 21st Learning. Room 21 Online™ ProjectBasedLearning.com™, and MyDreamMachine.com™, were the first closed online social networks that aimed to incorporate 21st century learning and project based learning strategies into classroom instruction.

Given that online educational experiences are a blend of digital media and social, collaborative expressions. Mr. Stippick formed Room 21 Media to become the premier vehicle for and “think-tank” for Room 21 Online™.

Currently, while many are still unsure of what is next in the post Covid-19 business environment, Mr. Stippick is bringing the tools, leadership, and wisdom necessary to think outside of the box and mentor a new cadre of business leaders.
